In my studio practice I am placing an emphasis on patterns in nature. Trees: trunks, branches and leaves. Clouds, rivers, ripples. For two years I focused on a series on birds, appreciating their strongly expressive shapes as the embodiment of movement and emotion. Landscape has always been a focal point because I believe Cezanne was right: the truth is in nature. Currently, I'm making abstract paintings that may be figurative. I cull patterns from nature and I use them to build shapes, carry light, and make marks. I believe the work I am doing belongs in the Contemporary Art canon's emphasis on originality in concept, reverence for beauty, and skill in painting.

I live in an 1890 Quaker rectory in the Hudson Valley with my husband and my dog and we sail the river when there is no ice.

The work has been widely exhibited in galleries, museums, juried  shows and Solo shows at the Howland Center for the Arts/ Beacon, Gallery 40/ Poughkeepsie NY and The Walkill Art Center, Montgomery NY.
